Es ist das Haus seiner Eltern, das der Stadtentwicklung in China zum Opfer gefallen ist, und das nun in Berlin mit seinem kompletten Inventar rekonstruiert wird. Der Aufbau wird am 13. März 2008 abgeschlossen sein, wenn das Festival RE ASIA eröffnet. Song Dong Builds a House within a House From 28 Feb The artist Song Dong, from the People's Republic of China, will start erecting his room-filling installation Waste Not in the Foyer of the House of World Cultures. And you are invited to watch these preliminary preparations for the exhibition Re-Imagining Asia. He will be building his parents' house, which fell victim to urban planning in China and is now being reconstructed together with its entire inventory here in Berlin. Construction ends on 13 March 2008, when the RE ASIA festival opens.     Die Aura des Göttlichen. Religionen im Film 23. Februar - 8. März Filmreihe in Kooperation mit der Guardini-Stiftung Was geschieht, wenn Religionen und religiöses Leben im Film dargestellt werden? In welchem Verhältnis stehen religiöse Inhalte, das religiöse Leben und filmische Ausdrucksformen? Wie prägen die unterschiedlichen Sinnsysteme die Perspektiven der Kamera und die Erzählstruktur? Ab 23. Februar zeigt die Filmreihe Produktionen aus den Einflussgebieten der fünf großen Religionen. Sie fragt, was der filmische Blick auf die Facetten von Judentum, Christentum, Islam, Buddhismus und Hinduismus offenbaren und enthüllen kann.     The Aura of the Divine. Religions in Film. 23 Feb - 8 March A film series in co-operation with the Guardini Stiftung What happens when religions and religious life are presented in film? What is the relationship between religious content, religious life and forms of cinematic expression? How do the various sensory systems influence camera perspectives and narrative structures? From 23 February, the film series will be showing productions from the spheres of influence of the five great religions. It examines what a cinematic look at the facets of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism can reveal. Mit einem Diskussionswochenende kommt DI/VISIONS. Kultur und Politik im Nahen Osten zum Abschluss, bis zum 13. Januar ist Catherine Davids mehrdimensionale Projektionsfläche im ganzen Haus zu sehen - "eine radikale Kritik dessen, was sonst in Kunstausstellungen als wirksames Politikbild verstanden wird" (artnet). DI/VISIONS: Abschlusswochenende Künstler und Intellektuelle diskutieren vom 11. bis 13. Januar zum Abschluss von DI/VISIONS. Kultur und Politik im Nahen Osten, dem Programm von Catherine David am Haus der Kulturen der Welt, über das Verhältnis von Kultur und Politik im Nahen Osten. Auf der Tagesordnung stehen Strategien zum Widerstand gegen die Globalisierung der Medien, das Verhältnis zwischen Medien, Staat und Gesellschaft, die Möglichkeiten des kulturellen Widerstands, insbesondere im Falle Iraks, und der Wandel der Identitäten angesichts von Exil, Diaspora und Globalisierung. In the summer, our new festival, WATER MUSIC, will be presenting a novel series of concerts and events related to every aspect of water as a world of experience and a natural resource. In the autumn, the focus shifts to Africa's Film World and the relationship between colonialism and modern architecture.
