Die Kunst im Plural Editionen Gerhard Richter zählt zu den international erfolgreichsten deutschen Künstlern der Gegenwart. In zahlreichen Museen und Sammlungen der Welt sind seine Gemälde, Skulpturen und Installationen ausgestellt. Parallel hierzu hat Gerhard Richter seit 1965 mehr als 160 Editionen geschaffen. Dieser Teil seines vielgestaltigen Werkes umfasst Druckgrafiken, Foto-Editionen, Multiples, Gemälde-Editionen, Künstlerbücher und Plakate. Sie ermöglichen ihm nicht nur eine größere Verbreitung seines Werkes, sondern gleichzeitig auch eine intensive Befragung der Rolle des Künstlers und der Kreativität. In der Ausstellung Gerhard Richter - Die Kunst im Plural (15. Februar bis 9. März 2014) zeigt die Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen im K20 am Grabbeplatz eine Auswahl von etwa 45 Editionen, die Richter in den vergangenen zehn Jahren geschaffen hat. Anlass der Düsseldorfer Ausstellung ist das bevorstehende Erscheinen des neuen Werkverzeichnisses der Richter-Editionen.   Calder Exhibition Extended ­ 66,000 Visitors and Counting The exhibition Alexander Calder ­ Avant-Garde in Motion at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf has been extended until01.y 26, 2014. "At this point, 66,000 people have already visited our presentation of works by this American sculptor, an invitation to reevaluate Calder's contribution as a member of the 20th century artistic avant-garde," explains Kunstsammlung Director Marion Ackermann. "In view of this unexpectedly pronounced public interest, the show ­ which opened in09. ­ will be on view for two weeks longer than originally planned. Moreover, we are delighted with the thoroughly positive media response ­ and by the readiness of our international lenders to make an extension possible." The Düsseldorf show ­ with approximately 70 works,05.nly from the 1930s and 40s ­ is the first comprehensive Calder exhibition in a German museum for more than two decades. "For the first time, it brings to light an unsuspected and intimate interplay between his work and prewar Parisian experimental film and avant-garde music," emphasizes exhibition curator Susanne Meyer-Büser: "More apparent than previously is the universality of Calder's thought ­ a pioneer of kinetic art whose mobiles are still familiar around the world today." Within the exhibition, important paintings by Mondrian and Miro from the permanent collection of the Kunstsammlung exemplify Calder's artistic milieu, situated between Surrealism and abstraction. On view is the entire breadth of Calder's oeuvre, ranging from small designs for mobiles (1939) in wood and sheet metal to the steel stabile "Le Tamanoir" (1963), which weighs in at 2300 kilograms, and has traveled from Rotterdam. A special architectural feature of the exhibition is an accessible footbridge in the Kleehalle that offers visitors unexpected views of the "floating" mobiles.
