Dark Drives. Uneasy Energies in technological Times

Eröffnung Transmediale 2012 - in/compatible
Unter der neuen künstlerischen Leitung von Kristoffer
Gansing findet mit der transmediale 2012 die 25. Ausgabe
des Berliner Medienkunstfestivals statt. Dieses Jubiläum
wird am 31.01 um 17 h mit der Vernissage der Ausstellung
"Dark Drives. Uneasy Energies in technological Times"
eröffnet, kuratiert von Jacob Lillemose. Parallel dazu startet
die Performance "Steam Machine Music - live construction"
des Künstlers Morten Riis, sowie die Wiederaufführung
des Programms "Videospiegel", mit dem die erste
Transmediale vor 25 Jahren unter dem Titel "Videofilmfest"
eröffnet wurde. Die offizielle Eröffnungszeremonie
um 18.30 h wird vom Performance-Künstler jon.satrom
abgerundet. Nach Kristoffer Gansings Eröffnungsrede zu Labor
Berlin 8 um 20.30 h beschließt Jeremy Bailey
mit "The Future of Creativity" den Abend. 31.01.,

Labor Berlin 8: Weise 7 - the in/compatible laboratorium
Weise 7 lädt das Publikum ein, die altgedienten Vorstellungen
von der Immaterialität digitaler Technologien über
Bord zu werfen. Die unendliche Erweiterung netzwerkbasierter
Kommunikationssysteme führt immer wieder zur Inkompatibilität
bestehender Technologien.
In Mini-Workshops, Installationen und Präsentationen stellt
Weise 7 während der transmediale 2012: in/compatible
vier in/kompatible Themen vor, die von den geostrategischen Implikationen
von Netzwerktopologien bis zum Genuss veralteter Technologie
reichen. 31.01. - 12.03. Eintritt frei.

Unter dem Thema SPECTRAL erkundet das CTM. 12 - Festival
for Adventurous Music and Related Arts in Konzerten, Diskussionen
und einer Ausstellung das aktuelle Revival von Geisterhaftem
und Dunklem in experimenteller Musik, Avantpop und Kunst. Neben
einem umfangreichen Musikprogramm in HAU, Berghain, Gretchen,
Katerholzig, Horst Krzbrg und Passionskirche wird eine Diskussionsreihe
mit dem Autor, Philosophen und Psycho-Historiker Andreas L.Hofbauer
das Festivalthema unter den Gesichtspunkten Kunst, Theorie und
Musik
Opening of Transmediale 2012 - in/compatible
Kristoffer Gansing is the new artistic director of transmediale
2012, the 25th edition of the Berlin Media Art Festival.
The jubilee opens on 31 January at 5 p.m. with the vernissage
of the Exhibition "Dark Drives. Uneasy Energies in technological
Times", curated by Jacob Lillemose. Beginning at the
same time are the Performance "Steam Machine Music -
live construction" by the artist Morten Riis
and a repeat of the program "Videospiegel",
with which the first Transmediale was opened twenty-five years
ago under the title "Videofilmfest". The official opening
ceremony will be rounded off at 6.30 p.m. by the performance
artist jon.satrom. Following Gansing's address opening
Labor Berlin 8 at 8.30 p.m., Jeremy Bailey will
conclude the evening with "The Future of Creativity".

Labor Berlin 8: Weise 7 - the in/compatible laboratorium
Weise 7 invites the audience to cast off their old perceptions
of the immateriality of digital technologies. A closer examination
of the specific properties of these technologies can lead to
a new understanding of artistic and technological practices.
With a series of mini-workshops, installations and presentations,
held during transmediale 2012: in/compatible, Weise
7 presents four in/compatible topics which range from the
geo-strategic implications of network technologies to the enjoyment
of outdated technology. 31.01. - 12.03. free admission.

With an extensive program of concerts, discourses and an
exhibition space, CTM.12 - Festival for Adventurous Music
and Related Arts is appropriating the festival theme SPECTRAL
to explore the current reemergence of all things ghostly and
dark in experimental music, avant-pop, and art. In addition to
a comprehensive music program at HAU, Berghain, Passionskirche,
Gretchen, Kater Holzig and Horst Krzbrg, a discourse series developed
in collaboration with the philosopher, psycho-historian and author
Andreas L. Hofbauer will address the festival's theme
by pursuing questions concerning art, theory, and music. More
