Global Prayers. Erlösung und Befreiung in der Stadt
Thementage
In den Metropolen der Welt halten neue religiöse Bewegungen
Einzug ins städtische Leben. Neuartige Glaubensgemeinschaften
treten als politische, wirtschaftliche und soziale Akteure auf,
sie versprechen Erlösung oder Befreiung, Erfolg oder kollektives
Heil. Wie funktionieren Politiken und Ökonomien der Hoffnung
und des Glaubens? In Vorträgen, Diskussionen, künstlerischen
Beiträgen und mittels Sound- und Filmvorführungen präsentieren
internationale Wissenschaftler und Künstler Schlaglichter
aus Lagos, Beirut, Rio de Janeiro, Mumbai, Istanbul, Teheran
und Berlin. 23. - 26.02.
Global Prayers in Bildern und Klängen
Von der christlichen Nollywood-Filmindustrie bis zu religiösem
Hip-Hop, von Videoinstallationen und Fotografien bis hin zu Soundscapes
und Gesprächen: Die Thementage im Haus der Kulturen
der Welt vermitteln in unterschiedlichen Medien das Bild der
GLOBAL PRAYERS. Im Fokus stehen u.a. die neuen religiösen
Räume in den Städten, die "fundamentalistische
Stadt" oder die Transformationen des Stadtbildes, aber auch
die transnationale Vernetzung der neuen urbanen Religionsgemeinschaften.
Foyer und Auditorium werden zum Erlebnisraum, in dem die verhandelten
Inhalte erfahrbar gemacht werden. Ergänzt wird das Programm
durch eine internationale Filmauswahl. Alle Veranstaltungen..
The Sound of Global Prayers
Prägnante Sounds machen hörbar, wie die verschiedenen
religiösen Bewegungen über Lärm, Klang und Rhythmus
die Stadt als auditiven Verstärkerraum nutzen. Vorträge,
Präsentationen und Live-Hip-Hop mit Adé Bantu
(Musiker, Lagos), sowie weiteren MCs aus Nigeria, Charalambos
Ganotis (Musiker, Hamburg), Martijn Oosterbaan (Anthropologe,
Utrecht) und dem Schweizer Klangkünstler Gilles Aubry
mit seiner Soundscape-Live-Performance. 25.02., 21 h
Global Prayers. Redemption and Liberation in the City - Theme
Days
New religious movements are emerging in the world,s metropolises.
Novel religious communities are embodied by political, economic
and social players who promise redemption or liberation and personal
or collective healing. How do the politics and economies of hope
and faith work? In a series of lectures, discussions, artistic
contrinbutions and audio and film presentations, international
academics and artists highlight developments in Lagos, Beirut,
Rio de Janeiro, Mumbai, Istanbul, Teheran and Berlin. 23.

Global Prayers: Images and Sounds
From the Christian Nollywood film industry to religious Hip-Hop,
from video installations and photography to soundscapes and discussions:
the Theme Days in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt transport
the image of GLOBAL PRAYERS via a range of media. The
focus is on aspects such as the new religious spaces in the cities,
the "fundamentalist city" or the transformations that
take place in the cityscape, as well as the transnational networking
of urban religious communities. The foyer and auditorium become
spaces in which the topics addressed by the project can be directly
experienced. The program is accompanied by an international selection
of films.
The Sound of Global Prayers
Distinctive sounds provide an audible illustration of how various
religious movements use the city as an auditive amplifying space
through noise, sound and rhythm. Lectures, presentations and
live Hip-Hop with Adé Bantu (Musician, Lagos),
along with other MCs from Nigeria, Charalambos Ganotis
(Musician, Hamburg), Martijn Oosterbaan (Anthropologist,
Utrecht) and the Swiss sound artist Gilles Aubry with
a live soundscape performance. 25.02., 9 p.m.
