Jay Chung und Q Takeki Maeda zeigen in ihrer Einzelausstellung
im Künstlerhaus Stuttgart eine Reihe von inhaltlich
zusammenhängenden neuen Arbeiten. Die beiden in Berlin
lebenden Künstler sind vor allem für ihre Foto-
und Textarbeiten bekannt, die subtile Grenzen zwischen Realität und
Fiktion ausloten. Chung und Maeda schliessen an die Formensprache und
die Medienreflexion der Concept Art der späten 1960er Jahre
an, weiten ihrer Auseinandersetzung aber auf Aspekte des
alltäglichen Lebens aus.
Die Ausstellung wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit der Akademie Schloss Solitude
produziert.
Eröffnung: Dienstag, 4. Dezember 2007, 19 Uhr
Am gleichen Abend eröffnet in der Galerie Parrotta
Contemporary Art (Augustenstrasse 87-89, 70197 Stuttgart-West),
ebenfalls um 19 Uhr, die Ausstellung Maschine mit
den Arbeiten der folgenden KünstlerInnen: Claus Larsen,
Eske Rex, Florian Neufeldt, Max Frey, Judith Fegerl (Ausstellungsdauer:
5. Dezember 2007 18. Januar 2008).
Ab 21 Uhr:
Bar im Kuenstlerhaus, 2. Stock mit DJ Machine
Ab sofort schenken wir in unserer Bar Edelbraende der Brennerei

In their solo exhibition at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, Jay
Chung and Q Takeki Maeda display a series of new works that are
related to each other in terms of content. The two Berlin-based
artists are known particularly for their photo and text works
which plumb the subtle borders between reality and fiction. Chung's
and Maeda's formal vocabulary and reflections on the media follow
late-1960s Concept Art, but expand the subject matter they deal
with to include aspects of everyday life.
The exhibition was produced in cooperation with Akademie Schloss Solitude.
Also on December 4th, 7pm, Parrotta Contemporary Art (Augustenstrasse
87-89, 70197 Stuttgart) will open the exhibition Maschine,
including works of the following artists: Claus Larsen,
Eske Rex, Florian Neufeldt, Max Frey, Judith Fegerl (The exhibition
will be on view Dezember 5, 2007 January 18, 2008).

Das Künstlerhaus Stuttgart freut sich, in Kooperation
mit der Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe einen Vortrag
von Madelon Vriesendorp zu präsentieren.
Madelon Vriesendorp ist Mitgründerin des Office for Metropolitan
Architecture (gemeinsam mit Rem Koolhaas und Elia und Zoe Zenghelis)
und prägte die visuelle Sprache der wegweisenden frühen
Projekte des Architekturbüros. Ihr Gemälde "Flagrant
délit," das auf dem Umschlag von Koolhaas' Buch "Delirious
New York" (1975) abgebildet ist, zeigt das Chrysler und
das Empire State Building, in flagranti ertappt vom Rockefeller
Center. Das Bild zählt zu den schönsten Versuchen,
das unbewusste Doppelleben der modernen Architektur abzubilden.
Dennoch ist Madelon Vriesendorp heute ein "nahezu unbekanntes
Künstlergenie" (Hans-Ulrich Obrist). Ihr Beitrag für
eine kritische Architekturgeschichte wird in diesem Jahr erstmals
ausführlich in einer Retrospektive an der Architectural
Association in London und in der Aedes Galerie Berlin gewürdigt.
Im Künstlerhaus Stuttgart wird Madelon Vriesendorp über
ihre Zeichnungen und Gemälde für Office for Metropolitan
Architecture und für den Architekturtheoretiker Charles
Jencks sprechen.
Die Veranstaltung findet im Rahmen eines Workshops mit Studierenden
der HfG Karlsruhe im Künstlerhaus Stuttgart statt (Seminar
"Raum-Modelle" im Studiengang Ausstellungsdesign und
kuratorische Praxis, Prof. Wilfried Kühn und Doreen Mende,
mit Stephan Trüby und Axel John Wieder). Der Workshop untersucht
das Potential von Ausstellungen und Publikationen für eine
kritischen räumliche Praxis. Der Vortrag von Madelon Vriesendorp
bildet den öffentlichen Abschluss des Seminars.

The Künstlerhaus Stuttgart is pleased to present a lecture
by Madelon Vriesendorp in collaboration with the Hochschule für
Gestaltung Karlsruhe.
Madelon Vriesendorp is a founder of the Office for Metropolitan
Architecture Architecture (together with Rem Koolhaas and Elia
and Zoe Zenghelis) and shaped the visual language of the early
groundbreaking projects by the architectual office. Her painting
"Flagrant délit," pictured on the cover of Rem
Koolhaas' book "Delirious New York" (1975), shows the
Chrysler and the Empire State Building caught in bed red-handed
by the Rockefeller Center. The image is one of the most inspiring
attemps to represent the unconscious double life of modern architecture.
Yet today, Madelon Vriesendorp is an "almost unknown artistic
genius" (Hans-Ulrich Obrist). For the first time, Vriesendorp's
contribution to a critical architectural history will be honored
in an extensive retrospective at the Architectural Association
in London and at the Aedes Galerie in Berlin this year. At Künstlerhaus
Stuttgart, Madelon Vriesendorp will talk about her paintings
and drawings for the Office for Metropolitan Architecture and
the architectural critic Charles Jencks.
The event is part of a workshop with students of the Hochschule
